Linux pros. how do you install a tar.gz? i searched and just couldnt figure it out.

Depends on whats inside of it. It's kind of like a zip file. You should open it up, see whats inside, and ask Chatgpt the best type of place to put that file structure and how to get it installed

I’m trying to install Sparrow on my Steam Deck (Arch Linux).
The Sparrow.x64.tar.gz doesn’t seem to have anything useful. I think it needs a JDK. Couldn’t figure out how to install it one on the SD.

I usually use: tar -xzvf -C
where x means extract... can't remember the rest of the args. hit tar --help to see a list of options
That won't isntall anything though, just extract it. You'll probably need to check the readme to figure out how to install
Extracting is the easy part. It’s what’s after that is complex. 😅
