I once worked with an engineer who had been at the same company for more than 30 years. He was the head of engineering. Sharp and trusted. The kind of guy you didn’t question.
Even as technology changed, his approach didn’t. He worked the way he was taught. Pencil to paper. Slide rule, T-square, compass on a drafting table.
When he was done, a younger engineer would take the drawing and turn it into CAD.
I think software development will look the same. Some people will adopt the new technology quickly. Others will keep building the way they always have.
Progress doesn’t erase the old ways. It stacks on top and compliments them.
