The Apple Watch is the thing that convinced me to get my first mechanical automatic watch.

Having the time on your wrist is in fact useful, but needing to charge that mofo every day for an hour is pure insanity. Not to even mention the privacy considerations etc.

Having a tiny work of art machine on my wrist that powers itself from the movement of my arm and can track the time, the date, the day of the week, the month, and is also a chronograph feels like magic.

I bought my new son in law this watch as a wedding gift because he’s in the military and he’ll be able to track home time along with his local time while deployed, and it matches his uniform. Plus, it will last his entire life as his marriage should.

Thank you for supporting analog time telling.

I’m not a jewelry guy, but I always smile when I catch the glints of light reflecting off the finely hand polished details of a nice watch.

Everybody should own at least one nice watch. And there are some very nice entry level examples available that offer a ton of value when you consider how long they last.

Yeah Hamilton and Tissot are both Swiss watchmakers that offer very reasonably priced models for example. Hamilton in particular has some amazing designs and options for just about every price point.

I've owned only one watch that I've worn now for 33 years

What watch is it?

This one: https://www.rolex.com/watches/day-date/m228238-0005

$11k when I bought it new. Tells time and shows you how inflation works over time.

This is Fire 🔥

One day I’ll be able to trade some sats for a nice watch. But not today. Must be patient, and stay humble for now.

My mate recently bought a Rolex Airking for USDT.

I'm sure somewhere there's watch dealers selling Rolexes for BTC. Just keep stacking them sats!

Soon they will all accept BTC. The whole world will accept it, and will offer discounts to get it.

pretty much a perfect timepiece

I love the idea of a mechanical watch with a Bitcoin hardware wallet but why is it an overpriced Richard Mille replica? Lol these "fashion watches" are mostly about PR stunts over creating an original timepiece.

Yeah thats what this is. There are other Bitcoin watches that aren’t anywhere near that price and do the same job. Unless it came with full coins it’s probably not worth it. Id rather spend it on BTC

What do you think about this as a start ? I want to discover this world

I don’t own an Orient but they are well respected. If you find something you love and you can afford to buy it without debt I think you should go for it!

Thanks ! 🫂💜

I love automatic watches. It reminds me of the 20th century in a way I’m deeply nostalgic for.

It’s one of the promises of sound money that gives me hope. We should see more finely made products built to last a lifetime.

We’re lucky that the automatic watches have been kept alive so we can still experience them in a fiat world.

Hey there! I totally agree that there's something special about wearing a mechanical watch. They're like tiny works of art that tell time, and the way they operate purely on the movement of your arm is pretty amazing. It's also great to hear that you found a way to incorporate this special timepiece into a meaningful and practical gift for your son-in-law. The ability to track multiple time zones is definitely a useful feature, and it's wonderful that this watch will last him a lifetime. Cheers to that!

I have Seiko watches. Apple Watch is something I’d not use.

Seiko makes some great watches too!

Same! I feel like the Apple Watch turned a new generation back into mechanical watches. They got used to wearing something on their wrist again and wanted something that was different from the same Apple Watch everyone has.

I got a Tudor Royal Day-Date recently. I love this thing.

And for real, a mechanical watch is genuinely a feat of engineering. The fact this can accurately tell the time, date, and day of the week without even so much as a battery is amazing.

And a good Swiss watch from a prestigious brand is highly likely to retain value or even increase in value (especially a Rolex, Patek, or AP).

Casio f91. Like $11 and battery lasts 10 years or so

Whenever you see someone look at thier watch ask them the time and they will look again. I’m guilty. Analogue is my time preference. Oris dive watch. Unbreakable
