Personally I like unchanging traditions as they ground us and connect us to the past. Also showing off is offensive to my puritan values.

I get the point. But a bunch of NPC’s piling in to get rained on all to watch a ball drop with their phones out, no where to piss and rats roaming ain’t it. 🤣
It’s borderline offensive as it pertains to tradition.
Speaking from a 4 generation family business where tradition is our heartbeat. It’s just a weird look.
