Gm, Nostr!

I'm listening to nostr:npub1h8nk2346qezka5cpm8jjh3yl5j88pf4ly2ptu7s6uu55wcfqy0wq36rpev's #BitcoinAudible episode (Chat #92) on Pear & Keet, and one of the first questions that comes to mind is this:

Can #Keet allow a user to have multiple identities, a la #SimpleX chat? For example, if I have a professional role and my own personal, private life, can I use Keet with two different identities that are entirely separate?

Having played around with the desktop-based software, I'm only seeing a way to a single display name, which would be less than ideal, given the aforementioned circumstances. I wouldn't want students or clients connecting with me in the same profile or identity as family members and close friends.

If someone knows how to separate these out, please do let me know. Or if the Keet & Pear folks are listening, please do consider adding this functionality!

Keet isn’t fully featured yet, still in beta. But yes there is no reason one couldn’t create separate keys for separate identities on your machine. Cross device ID is coming to Keet really soon, so we will see if they add in the ability to create multiple or not, but that’s purely a choice on their part for Keet specifically (I suspect they will, and I’ll chat with them and encourage it too, it’s an important UX imo)

But when talking about Pear and the P2P protocol, there nothing at all preventing it.

Much appreciated. I look forward to following Keet and Pear as they develop in the coming years.
