Have read the description of the relay but probably (if I understood it) it's not my case.

I'm not seeking new users. I want working list of people across all clients. But if I follow some person who is reachable over relay not on the list of particular client, I just don't see anything.

Then I just use previous client without trying one(s).

yes, it will be fixed soon when gossip model is implemented in clients, that's when purplepag.es will come in handy

There will be a special event containing the user's relay list, and if you can find the user's profile, you can read his notes, regardless of your relays list.
