It's kinda like that episode of Parks & Rec where some guy tricks them all into building a park in a day, but basically all of the other episodes are about them trying to get the govt to build a park.

This is something I’ve thought about a lot. The government doesn’t just suck at doing stuff. They also make us apathetic. People expect the government to take care of shit, and think they can ignore it.
If 99% of the population believes taxes are a good thing, then why wouldn’t 99% of the population be willing to freely give that money to things they actually care about?
