Anything you can use on Mac you can find an equivillent free open source software that does the job just as well, or better. There are so many linux distributions, desktop environments, and hundreds of thousands of software options available. As far as Linux first manufacturers go you can either go with System 76 for comparable build quality to Apple. Framework also offers excellent choices for long-term repair-ability and upgrading too. As far as which Linux distribution is the best for you. It is a bit like visiting an ice cream shop. There are hundreds of flavors to choose from.
