None of your data is safe. Everything is being monitored and sent back to Apple. Every keystroke, every website you have ever visited, all that you do. Including your bitcoin private keys. You have no sovereignty at all right now. This is coming from someone who used to work at a certified apple repair shop knowing full well what tools and resources they have at their disposal.

Anything you can use on Mac you can find an equivillent free open source software that does the job just as well, or better. There are so many linux distributions, desktop environments, and hundreds of thousands of software options available. I can guide you into this magical world full of freedom and explore the wild world of Linux if you are ready for a true adventure. I will show you what true full self soverignty is if you want.

As far as Linux first manufacturers go you can either go with System 76 for comparable build quality to Apple. Framework also offers excellent choices for long-term repair-ability and upgrading too. There is also always the tried and true higher end Lenovo Thinkpads with the Ryzen processors that are very well built as well. Here are some links for you.

As far as which Linux distribution is the best for you. It is a bit like visiting an ice cream shop. There are hundreds of flavors to choose from. Each has their own unique qualities and purposes to them. If you can tell me what you intend to use your computer for. I can provide you with some suggestions. We can even get you to test them out on your current computer within a virtual machine on virtualbox to see which is the best fit for you. So that when you are ready to make the switch and buy a new laptop. I'll help you get set up and ready to go gracefully.

I love doing this. It is a passion of mine helping people discover true freedom on their computer devices with Linux and free open source software.

I’ve looked into system 76 it seems like they make some pretty awsome hardware. I’m no shadowy super coder so Linux has always somewhat intimidated me but you are motivating me to look into it more! I appreciate the in depth response!

Perhaps it is me just being a noob but (as much as I know Apple has access to everything that touches iCloud) I thought that they were more privacy focused and good about not handing user information over to governments (although I did see the recent developments in the UK). Apple > Microsoft correct?

You are comparing two different STDs IMHO.

Do you want herpes (Apple) or aids (Microsoft)?

Either way you are going to get a nasty incurable disease. That both are guilty of doing the same thing behind the scenes. Violating your privacy and security by spying on you while selling your data to the highest bidders behind closed doors.

Don't be intimidated. Especially if I am here to guide you.

Been using Linux for 15 years and used well over 100 distributions of it. If you are ready to take your first steps to becoming a Linux Wizard. Let's go!
