It’s a quartz movement, which is the easiest to fix & replace if needed.

Also, I’m doing this project by myself so I wanted it to be doable.

Understood. I should have been more specific - which quartz movement?

Miyota 2115

Definitely reliable and affordable - solid little unit.

That’s what I wanted most - Ive worked on automatic watches before but the equipment belonged to the shop and I can’t afford it on my own.

What I most like about this is that you can just pop another movement in and keep going.

One day down the line, I may roll out a line of automatics and use NH35 movements.

One step at a time my man! (no pun intended). Doesn't the 2115 mvt have a date wheel? You didn't want to have a date window option?

Now THAT is a pun from someone who knows watches! Nicely done!

It has a date wheel, but the NOSTR at 3 o’clock covers it.

I wanted the dial to be readable from a few feet away, and a small cut-out square would take away from the design.

: Correction :

I actually made a mistake, the movement is actually a Casio 2784, which is nice and durable for the price. I had read the wrong specs on these apparently. Sorry everyone!

I've produced watches, so I know the costs involved.
