This is why nostr should use doggie coin and Monero for tipping. No 24/7 shit needed to handle receiving transactions

I would also be very happy if Nostr would allow non-lightning bitcoin wallet addressees for manual tipping too. More secure and less shit is likely to happen.
I've got my own Alby Hub, but people neglected to mention that I have to keep it on 24/7/365 in order for it to work. Little bit of a dumbass oversight on my part. So now I only turn it on and use it as a semi-cold storage savings account.
I am not morally opposed to shitcoins, but trying to convince developers to implement a nip, or accepting zap alternatives seems like an uphill battle that can't be easily won. Too many die hard bitcoin people here.

A lightning node that you only turn on every once in a while is a good way to have your channel partners close your channels on you.
Non-lightning (on-chain) tipping of 21 sats at a time would be an exceedingly bad idea.
Alby hub would close a channel if it was not turned on for extended periods of time?

Your channel partners might. Not Alby Hub.
OK I am definitely missing something in the old comprehension department. Please explain in greater detail.
Alby Hub is the software that runs your node. You hold your private key and open channels with with LSPs. Those are independent providers, not run by Alby itself.
Fuck fuck fuck.
Now I have to hope and pray that I didn't lose my funds?!?
You wouldn’t lose anything. It would simply appear in your on-chain wallet after the channel closes. It might take a little time to see it depending on how recently the channel closed, but your local balance will always return to you.
When you open a lightning channel, you lock an on-chain UTXO into a multisig with your channel partner, whoever you opened the channel to, or bought the channel from. If your node is offline for a while, they may decide to close the channel, because that's liquidity they have locked up for no reason if you are usually offline.
