Id have to look at nostr.band data, but how many of those users did we actualy retain for the long run? Yes it was a massive influx but what we want is user retention correct?
"adoption" is always a long and slow game.

For this conversation, I don't really care about user retention, this is about freedom. One platform has a history of censorship. Another platform does not.
Yeah I get that. I was just trying another angle. I honestly don't get people's reluctance or blinders around the problem of apple and their restrictions. It seems asinine to work so hard to comply.
I don't get it either, but I feel for them because ecosystem lock-in is a real thing. I wouldn't want to switch.
Yeah it took a massive effort for me to move eveything I did off google. So I can sort of understand. Unfortunately apple's lock in is deeper than software.
I made an honest effort to switch from iPhone to Android over a year ago. I ended up back on the iPhone. Using Android without Google Play is just not going to happen with the masses IMO. There needs to be another way. I would leave Apple in a heartbeat if something was available that even came close. Switching to Android w/Google doesn’t solve my trust problem.
I fully understand this. I ran custom ROMs for a decade. I now run stock Pixel with full Google Experience. It's just easier. I make these concessions because I know Android is open and I can always install any APK from anywhere.
