I'm back home with an unwell little boy.

He was telling me he was feeling cold and tired, so I got him into our bed so I could sit with him. His temperature was raised, but his hands and feet felt cold.

I gave him a small amount of acetaminophen to help him, and just as it was getting to work he had another febrile convulsion, as he did back in the summer.

At least I knew what was happening this time,

but it's still very scary.

I just made sure he stayed on the bed, held his hand and calmly spoke to him to reassure him, despite my worries.

After struggling to breathe and turning blue for a minute, he just fell asleep and started breathing normally again.

The whole episode lasted for just over 2 minutes. Doctors say it's fine if the seizure lasts for less than 5 minutes. But even those 2 minutes seemed like a long time while it was happening.

Stu, man.. I'm so sorry. I have a little boy myself and I pray I can have the strength you have if God forbid it was happening to him. I don't know what the prognosis for this is but I pray it's temporary and you all find some relief.

Apparently the seizures mostly occur between the ages if 6 months and 5 years.

We were told last time that they usually happen as their is a sudden spike in body temperature.

The hardest part was gently getting him onto his side so he doesn't potentially choke, but your not supposed to hold them while the convulsions are ongoing.

If another seizure happens within 24 hours then the advice is to see a doctor.

My heart goes out to you Stu.

Most often these are self limiting and resolve spontaneously with age…I hope with all my heart for yall this is the case with ur lil boy🙏🏽

Two minutes can be very long... glad everything went fine 🫂
