Pixel phones allow you to re-lock the bootloader after flashing a new OS.
What exactly does it mean ?
A locked bootloader on a phone makes it more secure by preventing unauthorized software modifications. It also protects your data. If your phone is lost or stolen, a locked bootloader makes it much harder for a thief to access your personal information. I think pixels are unique in their ability to lock using a custom OS.

I can't figure out the "de-Google by using their hardware" logic either. With SOC tech being cheap, it would be trivial for them to still have ways of snooping. Not to mention the financial benefit.
Its hard to imagine they wouldn't do this. Its not even like they would care if they got caught. They have already been caught abusing our data multiple times, they just shrug and so do the public, eventually accepting it as a part of normal life to be snooped on by unknown things at unknown times by unknown entities. The only people who can regulate them are govnts, who are the very people who use their tech to spy on us.
We can also just not call their products privat 🤷🏼♀️

The tools cops use to crack phones don't work on GrapheneOS, that's the main thing I think.
