Since i started making my own remineralizing toothpaste, i have no desire to go back to store bought. Its easy to make, and i know there are no yucky ingredients in it. In case you're interested, here's the recipe.

- 5 parts calcium carbonate

- 1 part diatomaceous earth

- 2 parts baking soda

- 3 parts coconut oil

- 1 part turmeric

- essential oil for taste ( i use peppermint)

damn. Diatomaceous earth? I guess the abrasives must be smaller than tooth enamel.

Yeah, i use it for lots of stuff. Just be careful you dont get the swimming pool stuff. Needs to be food grade.

amazing, is calcium carbonate similar enough to baking soda that you can skip it?

In the recipe i have, it says the baking soda is optional, but i add it to mine.

Very interesting

curious about this.

does the mixture harden in the cold?

my cabin has poor climate controls 😂 and previous coconut oil based toothpastes I've made are pretty hard in the winter.

Its an advantage to all those stabilizers and shit they put in the store bought stuff.

I keep mine in a bathroom drawer, and it never hardens. I use virgin, cold processed coconut oil.

Clove would be a nice addition.

Yes i think it would, clove is good for tooth pain.

I'm doing this! Thanks!

I think you'll love it. I like the way the coconut oil feels afterward. Also, just be sure to use food grade diatomaceous earth. There is such a thing as swimming pool D.E., so dont use that.
