I am from an Easter Orthodox background, but I am not an Eastern Orthodox Christian. I am a Christian striving to be aligned with the pure, orthodox scriptural doctrines of the Holy Bible.

what do you mean by being aligned with the pure, orthodox scriptural doctrines of the holy bible?

I grew up in the Catholic church.

But as of this moment, the only label I feel comfortable assigning to myself is that I am a Biblical Christian.

I'll be able to better define that in time.

New follower of Christ. Still working on figuring out the best way to honor God. We've been exploring orthodoxy.

«When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.»

John 16:13 ESV https://bolls.life/ESV/43/16/13/

Prayer, attending church and reading the lives of the saints and the early church, all helped me.

It's a big community

Not orthodox, not protestant, not catholic.

Bitcoiner Christian.

it's a start, I recommend reading about the early church history.

You could be more specific. Early church is a relative statement.

Of course! Early church fathers from the patristic era, so spanning approximately from the late 1st to mid-8th centuries. To name a few:

St. John Chrysostom: Known for his eloquent preaching and extensive writings, including many homilies and commentaries on the Bible.

St. Basil the Great: One of the Cappadocian Fathers, he contributed significantly to monasticism and theological writings.

St. Gregory the Theologian: Another Cappadocian Father, renowned for his theological works and defense of the Nicene Creed.

St. Athanasius of Alexandria: Famous for his defense of the doctrine of the Trinity and his work "On the Incarnation".

St. Gregory of Nyssa: The third Cappadocian Father, known for his mystical and theological writings.

St. Cyril of Alexandria: Known for his role in the Christological debates and his contributions to the understanding of the nature of Christ.

St. Augustine! 😜

So we share love

How about following just Christ, with conservative values without a church?

it's an amazing start, i highly recommend reading the early church fathers and the lives of the saints!

Revelation 3:20

"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me."

Matthew 7:7-8

"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you."

Oh i know the bible quite a bit now. Especially the new testament. Love Matthew.

Not quite there yet, just inquired at my local parish last week. I’ve been committed to converting for close to a year but it took a while to get my wife warmed up to the idea. You’re the first orthodox page I’ve found, do you have any follow recommendations?

congratulations on this. The divine liturgy is truly beautiful. Even if you attend on your own, set a good example and the family will follow

Amen 🙏 Praise the Lord

Does an inquirer count?

"Indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding."
