Do you remember the TV sets from the 1970s? I wasn't around and I wonder if you would like to share them with me for my uni project. I want to make it more personable instead of just googling 70s television sets. Feel free to share models or photos in the comments 😊

Any stories you remember or know from that era are also welcome!

Erm, kinda. I was a very young kid in the 1970’s.

In the UK, we had 3 channels until 1982.

I don’t know what the make of the TV was, but it was colour and had 6 buttons for the channels. Because we only had 3 channels, we doubled up until my Dad imported the first Hanimex games console around 1977 and then in 1982, I got a Dragon 32 computer, so by the early 80’s all 6 buttons were in use with the birth of Channel 4.

Oooh just googled it and this was it:

Oh wow! I didn't know that there were only 3 channels. Thank you for sharing ☺️

my first TV at age 4 was a like 10" black and white tiny thing, iirc it was a christmas thing along with my first lego set, a fire engine, with pre-articulated legomen... i forget the brand name... i think the logo had something to do with a gong

maybe "rank arena"

yeah, it was like this:

idk if that's color or not, i think not... ours was B&W

Beautiful design! Any idea what's the black thing infront of that TV? 🫣

I was a kid in the 80's, we had a tv set on a high chest of draws. One day I had the bright idea to turn the chest of draws into a staircase🤦‍♂️, so I could climb up to the top, to change the tv channel (no remotes in those days). You guessed it my weight toppled the chest of draws and tv onto me! 💥Broke my bones in 3 places in my arm🦴was rushed to hospital. Got a cast and everything. Miraculously the tv didn't break at all, still worked flawlessly for years after. They don't make em like they used to.

I did the staircase thing also in the mid 90s to annoy my parents. I was turning the TV off. I thought it was hilarious 😂 they didn't enjoy it that much. Thankfully I didn't hurt myself but now thinking back, the same could have happened to me. These TVs were working like donkeys! Made to last

Great minds think alike 😉. Good luck with your uni project.

Thank you 🙏🏼😊

Banging on the side most often fixed them. Seriously.
