This episode of The Symbolic World is fantastic. In it, they make the case that "no matter who you are, you will celebrate pentecost" because it is a spiritual reality. The question is, will you celebrate by embracing the wind-like work of the spirit (in all its ordered chaos), or will you "reap the wind" by attempting to impose your own order onto the spirit? Our world is building a new Babel, but a storm is coming that will bring that project to utter confusion.

A question I often ask myself is: which side am I on? Is nostr a tower of babel, a creation of human technology meant to impose order, or does it "embrace the chaos" in a faithful way? I strongly think the latter, but we will see.

Really like your comments here. I’ll take a listen. I’ve often thought of the Tower of Babel when thinking about AI, especially when people have literally said “we’re becoming god”.

solid episode 👌

I can't believe I never knew that about rainbows. 🤦‍♀️

I'll have to give that question a listen.

To the latter question of what side we are on, and where Nostr fits into it all, I don't think that we are meant to live in chaos. From the beginning, the human mandate is to "fill the earth and subdue it."

If we seek to conform to the proper order, with God at the head, then we fulfill that human vocation. If we try to impose an order of our own design, though, then our project will fail, like the Tower of Babel.

Since the Enlightenment, modernity has tended towards the latter. The movement towards a secular global order is the culmination of a centuries-long attempt to order human society without God, and that will fail, sooner or later.

Yes, we must stay humble. The meme is right about that and it applies to Nostr, as well.
