eh, I'd rather keep it that way. The internet was better when it was Western Dominated.

Still is. English is the lingua franca of the internet and all the biggest internet companies are American

Yeah, but the root domain systems have been outsourced to elsewhere.

The Great Wall of China. Firewall that is. But yeah LATAM and SA need more nodes!

Yep, and Africa

Too North dominated

I'm surprised how few there are in South America. Lots of tech savvy people there when I was there

"Too Western dominated" makes it sounds like a central authority could make a change if they wanted. It's like asking if income is being distributed equally, even though income is not distributed. If someone doesn't like where the nodes are predominantly based, what are they doing to change it?

Good points, no argument from me

Wow. I think that's the first time in the history of humanity someone has acquiesced to arguments over the internet. ;)

The real question is, what are the incentives and constraints that Lightning node operators and potential node operators are responding to given their specific context? Bottom line is, those who believe it's worth it are running nodes, and those who don't believe it's worth it are not running nodes. Unless someone not in that context is willing to go to a different context to spin up new nodes, or finance someone who wants to spin up a node but doesn't have the money, there are exactly as many Lightning nodes in operation as the incentives and constraints of the context the person is in is relating to as seems worth it.
