I agree with you though about your last part. Ironically the better things are the less need there is for crypto. The harder the state squeezes the more transactions spill over to black markets and truly permissionless crypto.

If the black market grows enough, mass adoption is possible.

At the moment crypto is too hard to use for most people who just wanna order a small amount of bud.

Black markets absolutely thrive under that kind of environment. Black markets under iron fisted rule of communist nations, that had the harshest of punishments, are some of the most prolific and well known in history. Yes, let's not hope it gets to that point, but it would make black markets more, not less, popular.
