First time for everything 😂

I guess it’s mainstream to dislike Star Wars now 😂

It’s mainstream to look for the 9/10 on IMDb 😂

There are only 7 movies with a rating of 9+ on IMDb

You know exactly what I mean. Stop playing 😂

I don’t ?

You look for movies with good grades on IMDb, as you suggested earlier when you said you don’t have time to waste. The movies that have high ratings on sites like that are mainstream.

Are there any movies you thought were great that were rated poorly on IMDb?

I don’t use IMDb ratings to dictate my choices. I usually go by director, the trailer, the synopsis sometimes. Also what others thought of the movie

Then how do you know it isn't a useful tool for you? What if it aligns with your tastes

I’ve seen some of their ratings lol. I don’t need that

I’ve been watching movies for a while now 😂

Quant!

😂

Which ratings do you disagree with?

If I look at Cronenberg’s work for example, I disagree with all of them 😂

John Carpenter always gets destroyed by reviewers. I don't think he made a movie I don't love.

I should add him to my festival

The fact "They Live" is rated a 7 proves to me IMDb is a fail 😂

The trailer looks amazing 😂

…and I’m all out of bubblegum

Have you not seen they live 👀

I haven’t seen it either

I’ll get high later and watch this 👀😂

I don’t think so. I’ll Jellyfin it

I’ll add all his stuff

7.2 is good. Anything above 7 I’ll watch if it looks interesting. Below 7 has to be a comedy or a recommendation from someone I trust.

I’ve never seen any of his movies but there are a few above 7 and some around 6. So it’s between good and average 🤷‍♂️

Yeah I disagree

Does IMDb pay you, why are you so concerned that other people use it? 😂🤣

Yeah they pay me but I’ll shit on them if you pay me more

It actually is. Disney Star Wars is shit 😂

I was referring to IMDb & RT. As an aggregator of reviews, they are averages, by definition the mainstream view.

I prefer to follow directors writers & actors I like. What have they created, what inspired them, what new films do they enjoy. The same with reviewers. I find ones that have similar tastes to me, rather than an average.

I also find those sites focus only on new movies, where I find a lot of value in older films too.

Yeah it’s an average. It’s a useful tool haha and the top 250 are mostly older movies

Check out tools like

https://trakt.tv/

It lets you keep track of what you like, and recommends stuff based on comparing your favorites to others with similar tastes. I've got far more out of this tool than I have ever got out of IMDb or RT.

Oh nice. Plex integration.

Works with strem.io too, my favorite torrent streaming app.
