Anyone already using private relays to chat between each other ? 🤔

I have not yet, will catch up next week 🤙🏼🫂

Why not just use keet.io for that use case?

That's what I was thinking as well. Keet has still some work to do though in terms of being able to control your own identity. How that works on keet is still a black box

Which relays would those be?

I like to imagine mine sneaks off at night to do so, but I can’t confirm.

Could be an interesting business model. Pay some sats to fire up a relay that only lives for a short amount of time and gets destroyed at the end.

Self destroyed notes 🤔

Start9 has a service in their os - burn after reading - that does this!

Sorry doesn burn nostr notes….just ignore me.

ah hah there you are Duck, couldn't see you when I looked yesterday 🍻

Duck, is one of the based and smartest Bitcoiners I met! Undervalued

I haven't known him long but we have mutual friends in the Michigan meetups. And so do we Yegor, I saw we both doxxed our Mutton man on accident lolol and I was like, no shit!

If anyone has. Please reach out! Im looking for Nostr curious engineers.

I was wondering if there is any existing discussion of how to do private DMs. Seems to me like it should be possible, perhaps even relatively straightforward. Just send a DM that says "DM me at ", and then the receiver can accept that offer with their own new random npub. The relays will only see that there was one DM from A to B, and after that they will only see communication between two anonymous npubs (but no way to associate back to A and B).

The new npubs could of course be derived in some reasonable way to get them back later. Clients would need to support separate signing keys for DMs.

Haven't seen anything about this though, so I'm just spitballing.

Your post is creating a buzz.

My brain doesn’t stretch that far yet — this would allow for uncensorable and yet far more private/untraceable communication between parties? And they could always switch to another server, one of which there are constantly new and untraceable ones popping up all the time?

I have no knowledge on how DMs work in Nostr today, but wouldn't the most obvious way be to post notes encrypted using the recipients public key? These can be decrypted using the private key, that only the recipient holds.

Bruh I'm still trying to get my Nostr to stop blinking 00:00
