What was the moment or catalyst where you went from knowing Bitcoin exists to actually acquiring some?

My wife was pregnant, and I started doing math on all of the childcare related expenses, began to panic realizing that with inflation, and a child to care for, we would have a hard time managing everything if our savings either didn’t exist or was devalued.
It sent me down a rabbit hole of searching for investments with true value, and I ended up with a bullseye on bitcoin.
I transitioned very quickly from knowing it exists to acquiring it - unfortunately it took me forever to know it exists!
Not my case. It took me a couple of months to discover how to buy some
Learning about self custody was a couple months process for me as well. I tragically started my journey on the shitcoin casino which is coinbase and let them hold my keys for a while.
Happy to say I’ve never been rugged though!

March 2020 and the subsequent months of ‘money printer going brrrr’…I couldn’t believe what was happening…I felt like I was living in a world where ‘the game was made up and the points didn’t matter’…thankful for Bitcoin every day…

It’s crazy because you have this vision of how you believe things will happen…then something as beautiful as Nostr comes along and your wildest expectations about Bitcoin are once again surpassed…you say to yourself, “we have an option that is real and true..this is cool! I had some back and forth commentary with a coworker for months and eventually he recommended I read The Bitcoin Standard. After that weekend my life was changed.

Some time in 2010 a friend of mine sent me a message on ICQ with a link to some kind of electronic cash people were generating on their CPU. I remember checking out Bitcoin QT and the website. Couldn't make much sense of it and forgot everything about Bitcoin until 2012.
I saw the all-time high price at the time on the front page of Business in WSJ and was like, What the fuck! I need to get some before it’s all gone!

A guy I was dating suggested I buy some sats with Cashapp. Didn’t think anything about it.
A few months later I asked a money manager about MSTR stock and told him that I think I should buy some shares because I liked what Saylor was saying about Bitcoin. He laughed at me and told me that Saylor shouldn’t be listened to.
Not appreciating being told No, I took all my money out, put it into cold storage and fired him. I’ve had diamond hands ever since.
Heard about bitcoin in 2013, but just thought it was something gamers used. Heard about it again in 2017 bull run and bought because number went up. It wasn’t until about 3 years later that I actually started to grasp what Bitcoin was solving. Had a more intense Bitcoin awakening about a year ago that catapulted me further down the rabbit hole and I’ve continued to fall deeper ever since
Definitely took me time to keep hearing of it before I moved on it. Then started studying… the rabbit hole might just be endless 🤙
Watching one of Andrei Jikh's videos when he talked about bitcoin. He mentioned bitcoin even though it wasn't on my radar up until that point (I'd heard if it but never cared enough to spend 5 minutes learning about it). Once I peeked down the rabbit whole, I was swallowed almost instantly and haven't left since
Love it. I definitely had a handful of different moments that felt like a fully mind-bending revelation about what this thing is.
I had it explained in detail to me in 2009. I kept an eye on it until the bottom of the 2019 bear. It hadn't gone to zero, it was still above the 2013 ATH. Since it hadn't gone to zero in the first ten years, I went mostly in.
Now I'm all in. My business now accepts bitcoin and holds it on our balance sheet. 40% of the job I did in 2022 paid with Bitcoin. I build houses. Let that sink in...
One day I woke up and the United States government told me I couldn’t play poker for real money around christmas2012 . Within a month I found a better money to online gamble with. It worked great. I did not put much thought into the bitcoin world today and the general things you see people say and believe untill about 2o16. I just kept using a really good internet tool in my mind. Around 2016 I had a much better grasp on bitcoin and it’s pillars of understanding and importance. Enough to become an educator, a near martyr, and an absolute slayer of FUD.
During Covid-19, I knew about it since its beginning & finally started managing my own portfolio when I had free time.
