Running your own relay helps some (and backs up all your personal notes so as to not rely on someone else). You can probably add a nostr relay to your node..I can and did.

Check my public bookmarks. I have educational content to learn about relays. Amethyst provides granular relay configs, not sure about your client. I connect to about 17 different relays.

Half the time I have to use MMS or Twitter DMs because messages won’t deliver

Do you only have the issue on that ckient? Or multiple clients?

I get those undeliverable errors when my relays aren't connected to the client.

Specifically I use 0xChat for DMs via Nostr but overall I don't see the use of DMs on a public forum type relay architecture. I would much rather post my SimpleXChat QR address and have people contact me directly that way.

Are there any other unreliable aspects you have noticed?
