I don't think most people want to "be their own bank"

That sounds like a lot of responsibility. And a lot of work. It's kinda intimidating.

Plus, aren't banks the bad guys? Why would someone want to be the bad guy?

I wouldn't say banks per se are the bad guys. The current banking system, yes. But a full reserve bank for example offers a valueable service for people. But in this current system they aren't even allowed to operate

Yes. You are technically correct. But I’m speaking at a mass market messaging level in relation to the current zeitgeist.

Banks are full of Banksters. And Banksters are crooks.
