YOU CAN DO IT

(Sorry to say, you'll never match that Netscape icon though...)

All we need to do is turn it purple. It already has everything we need.

It would be nice to have a clean, honest servo-esque browser again. One that *extremely* fast, *extremely* safe, *extremely* private, etc. Just some realistic expectations. Nothing exotic.

I’m to young. What’s Netscape sir

It was the NOSTR of its day 😂

And had a scripting language (JavaScript) to enable anyone to build dynamic pages. Was a smart idea

I remember aol dial up

With MySpace and chat groups

Instant messenger I think…

I remember o yeah what I was going to say…. I remember adding my favorite songs to my profile

And I think they had a top 3 or top 5

That was like your best friends you could display on your page as well…?

But what you’re talking about is making it super easy for any old average user to spin up a website essentially???

where do I dial up

and you will. i have no doubt.

you will.

I don't want to build the next Netscape I want to build the next Unix. But you will probably be at me to it. ChromeOS kind of has the right ideas but is built with the wrong underpinnings. Make it a personal p2p distributed VM and the stuff you can build is endless. Webassembly/Wasi is a good candidate for V1. It just needs an interface.

I can stomach building a browser but os might be a bit much. Keeping it simple for now. I want something i can actually ship

Yes, but a browser is just a VM. So eventually you or someone else will strip out Linux to just boot to your browser and viola! A new OS.

I’m sure ill end up with a process per tab architecture like web browsers eventually 😅

You aren't using tokio for it now?

Not exactly separate processes but good enough.

Ah you are, indirectly for the GUI via this poll-promise crate. Have you liked egui? I have to pick something eventually.

yeah egui is great. very flexible

we have tokio for threadpool async stuff but its probably overkill. works great for loading images I guess.

It will happen “again.” Favorite OS that didn’t make it back from its revival, BeOS, had this… my goodness was it a stable, fun, and smartly-thought-out OS. What it wasn’t was “marketable” unfortunately 😞

Per process architecture though… 🤔 a shape of looking at modern SoCs could point to this

Don’t shoot the messenger:

A Bitcoin to Monero bridge

Wow! Could this, in some way, have something to do with notedeck?

yes notedeck is being built this way. already has the internal relay and offline first. the columns app is just the first app. still far away from dynamic loaded executables, but baby steps.

X-Scape

Nextscape:)

🤙

Totally unrelated but netscape made me nostalgic … Is there any way to integrate the baseball theme sounds from Windows 98 into DAMUS?

We get some interesting requests… this is one of them haha nostr:npub1zafcms4xya5ap9zr7xxr0jlrtrattwlesytn2s42030lzu0dwlzqpd26k5

Appreciate that y’all even laughed about this! 😏😂

we listen to all user feedback lol. Even stuff that might be a bit outside the regular roadmap. 💜

Outside of the USA and South Korea ... nobody plays Baseball.

It’d be an option, obviously. But every time I press the home button, “Play ball!” Every time I refresh my feed, *wood crack of the bat*. When I perform a search, *the crowd goes wild*. nostr:npub1h50pnxqw9jg7dhr906fvy4mze2yzawf895jhnc3p7qmljdugm6gsrurqev

You wouldn't stop till you build nostr OS with custome silicon :-) keep on !
