Seeing so much on the homestead/permaculture front has me a little down on myself. I had medium-big plans this year , but life has gotten in the way.

I have a new 5 acre property. I was going to start slow with just bees this year since I had only seen it in the winter and didn't know what was going to come up.

But since my previous landlord hasn't/hasn't tried to rent my apartment, I'm still paying rent in addition to the mortgage, and the finances suck.

Maybe I'll get lucky and a swarm trap will work, but otherwise, I think I'm just getting to know the property until fall.

Thank you for listening to me vent., if you made it this far.

Dont be too hard on yourself

I have found that it NOSTR had been an amazing place to land. Have 5 acres is a great start. There is always work to be done so don't kick yourself to hard about anything. You're going to need to be in tip top shovel shape!

Nothing wrong with a good solid period of observation to help better formulate your plans. Let the land show you what it can do and what it needs before you make up your mind. Best of luck!

Getting to know it will save you making costly mistakes. I wish I had taken more time on the front end. I would plant 15 apple trees to find out they struggle in my conditions. While peach do great. Anyways... starting small and finding what works is a great start.

Maybe a blessing in disguise by giving you a year to plan and see where things should go instead of putting them where you want them

Take lots of pictures, my wife and I save them in a small box and keep in the office so in a few years when you feel like your making any progress you can look back and see how much change you have really made

We have made slow steady improvements when cash flow was available

Congratulations on your success
