**Yesterday's Twitter outage and policy changes were Nostr advertisements.**

Decentralized communication on Nostr, in which data is transmitted and stored across a network of relays, offers several advantages over centralized communication, where all data passes through a single, central point of control. Decentralization increases the robustness and resilience of the network, as there is no single point of failure that can bring the entire system down.

We saw this happen yesterday with Twitter. Users could not just load up a different client or access a different relay to continue using Twitter. For those that were skeptical about Nostr, this was a beaming advertisement for Nostr's features and resilience.

Additionally, the decentralized nature of Nostr allows for greater user autonomy and control over their data, as they can store and manage it themselves, rather than having to trust a third party to do so. Twitter imposed rate limits and delays yesterday. Nostr is different. There are no rate limits. (Well, relays do have rate limits to thwart spammers.) There are no delays.

The differences between centralized Twitter and decentralized Nostr are loud and clear. The masses will continue to see these defining differences over time. Keep building.

Great read 🍻

Has anybody run the numbers from yesterday to today?

Absolutely the way forward. I just think it's a matter of time until people realise what they actually need.

Insanely impressive so far.

twitter will eventually be a relay in nostr. said Will, i agreeπŸ‘Œ

absolutely. i've said this too. twitter will become a highly customized nostr client and relay. they will still do username/password to manage credentials for users and still do advertisements, etc. nothing will really look all that different.

It's going to take a while to overcome Twitter's network affect. But it's only a matter of time. There's still probably less than 20k serious Bitcoiners world wide 14 years after genesis. In a few years I suspect there will be much more adoption as developers build more front ends.

To take it one step further..

Purple and orange > blue and green

Musk should migrate twitter to nostr, and twitter runs various relays

How on earth could they think that is a good idea to rate limit? Unbelievable
