Went out. Did hard things. Back at the house after hiking 7 miles w 30lbs.…4.5 miles on a fucked up foot.

I knew my new shoes felt a little funny but I ignored what my body was telling me yesterday. Turns out you cant push through with improper insoles.;pain accumulates. Lesson learned.

I bought a pair of Altra lone peak 8 and now I won't trail run in anything else.

Zero drop, wide toe box.

Thanks bro I’ll look into that now

It’s crazy… Left foot was great, but right foot felt like there was arch support on the outside of my foot. I think my right foot is flatter

I have completely converted to barefoot shoes for my day to day and Altras for running / hiking

I have flat feet but this actually helped my arch & my bunyons from wearing bball shoes have corrected by about 50%.

I cant wear regular shoes anymore.

What do you recommend for barefoot daily drivers?

I was believing that Merell makes one of the most durable shoes in the market. This image shows I’m wrong about this one. For the looks of it, even the local brand in my country makes more durable shoes.

Where did you weared these, Dan?

The 2018s (might be 17) went jogging every other day with the stroller for 2 years, I started blowing out seams in 2023 and they turned into farm shoes.

I would consider these as a 5yr daily shoe wroulgy $32cad a year

These are Merrals lightest shoe and I just started going through the sole this year. For a heavier hiker, I use a Keen's wrapped toe is very good.

These look good!

Cheap: Xero shoes - I love all my pairs. I rock the sandals rn with the weathering warming up.

Waterproof Boots: Lems

Expensive (about to buy for first time): Vivo

Got em. The return policy is crazy… Wear them for 30 days? Easy decision

Best decision you made today.

Also get good running socks.

Darn tough is a good one.

Injinji if you want toe socks but make sure to get the merino wool ones.

I have two pairs of those actually… The darn tough

100% merino wool

I live in leather hiking boots. Asolos. They are nowhere near barefoot - but I feel absolutely indestructible from the ankle down. My current pair have at minimum 1000km of trail use on them.

I have a hefty boot for crazy trails too
