I've been clean from alcohol and weed for over a month now. I had previously stopped both since 2015, but relapsed weed in 2020 and booze in 2024 due to bad habits and not caring for myself.

The best advice I can give is find "the reason" to focus on, then just quit, and don't look back. I know it sounds trite, but it is the way. It will be really tough for the first bit, but it quickly gets better. If you have friends and family that are supportive that is great, but look out for crabs in the bucket. Sometimes trying to improve yourself will make people jealous.

Feel free to DM me, it's something I'd rather not discuss in depth publicly 🫂🤙

It was 2022 Halloween, I went to the busy Jersey City bar Pet shop with my whole work team. The next day, I was not feeling well, a test showed I was Covid positive. So, I started my medication and put a pause on my "drinking habit" (at least 2 cases of beer and/or a bottle of whiskey a week).

Medical advice was to be in medication for 2 weeks. So, no alcohol for 2 weeks. I recovered from COVID-19 and thought I will try staying away from drinking for another 2 weeks. And 2 more weeks and so on... Now, it has been more than 2 years without a drop of alcohol! 🤷‍♂️

Covid came as a boon to me! The benefit was, I started following better eating habits and workout regimen. I lost weight, from almost 230 lbs to 155 lbs.

Just telling, the best way I learned to stop drinking is, to stop for a short period, incrementally...
