Do you think “read” states would be useful? Jump to the last unread note in your feed?

Great 💡

Yes! Ideally something that could be toggled on or off

Yes since I always end up scrolling down to where I end up seeing already read notes.

I’d rather have the scroll location stay consistent. Currently, if I tap a note or an image, when I go back to the feed, I’m scrolled way up from where I was.

Man who plotted to kill late Queen with crossbow sentenced to 9 years in jail https://www.cnn.com/2023/10/05/europe/man-who-threatened-to-kill-queen-elizabeth-ii-jail-sentence-intl-gbr/index.html

🧐

Mind you, the late queen.

😭

Emperors new clothes thief has been found. It is the late queen.

Yes

are you rapping or can you read my messages plainly

I would test it definitely 😏⚡️

Hell yes. One of the things I dislike is going back to home and having to scroll down to find where I left off. But I still love this app. Might not even have the latest version. More useful than 90% of the apps on my phone. Can we imbed this into an os? 😊

I don't like sync'd read states across devices since it is a privacy issue, but internal to a client is fine. Already have that for messaging clients. No read receipts, though. Hate those.

Yeah would be local to device

Yes.

Yes please!

I’ve thought about this before. The ‘read’ status could be termed as ‘NIP’. It could improve the local algorithm for feeds and also introduce a ‘read receipt’ feature for DMs.

I was just thinking in terms of a local thing to know what notes in your feed youve already seen. Read receipts are a whole other thing which definitely needs a NIP

I need this.

💯💡

Yes I was literally posting this yesterday. Excellent idea

Definitely. It would be very useful if Damus finally came to Android 🙄

Would kill for it. It happens too much that I lose track.

Yes

Are you thinking read states will live privately in Damus or publicly on a relay?

I imagine pros and cons for either approach, but curious what you're thinking.

Privately unless theres a compelling reason otherwise

yes! cafe-society.news/nostrfeed considers a post read if it is an 80% string similarity score.

nostrposts, not nostrfeed - sorry

Yes, please!

Yes would love having this feature

Yes

Yes.

Probably. But an even more useful feature would be to filter out a user's reply to other posts. A feed where I can view the posts of those I follow, but do not have to sift through all the random replies to other posts.
