Question: are there any iOS Lightning wallets that allow you to open channels manually, to nodes of your choice?

Eg what Blixt on Android allows you to do.

Blue wallet I believe

Doesn't Blue Wallet use only custodial lightning?

I believe you can connect it to custodial if it’s running lndhub. I haven’t tried it but I remember that option.

There’s blixt on ios but on beta and on TestFlight

Ah! I looked for it but didn't find it as I'm not on TestFlight.

Zeus seems to allow you to.

Zeus is cool. But it's a way to control a lightning node remotely. It doesn't itself open channels.

Hmm. So Blixt is basically an Lnd node on your phone? Interesting.

I feel like there’s too much restriction on the iPhone to allow that even though apps should be able to run in the background.

Interesting though.

Yes! Literally the lnd codebase. Breez does this too. Although last I tried it Breez was doing something weird so manually opened channels don't really work right.

You can make payments on your sues app too.

what’s the distinction?

I think Breez does

I remember that breez has low level command shell where you can do it

It does. But it doesn't seem to want to actually use manually opened lightning channels for payments. At least I didn't when I last tried that, about a year ago.

.. And note sure if it fits ... But phoenix creates automatically channels with inbound availability .. When it fill up it create new one and so on ..

Yes. But phoenix doesn't let you choose who to open channels with.

Well you can use Blixt on iOS. Breez lets you do manual channels as well.

Breez allows you to open channels

Blixt is on Test Flight for iOS. Not sure of any others in full release though.
