Nostr has seen waves of normies come in but why has nostr shrunk? Why are mostly only techy bitcoiner types sticking around?
Its simple - the culture is heavily dev forward. That means new exciting products, immediate user feedback... but that also comes with little regard to the non-techy user experience. Most people dont actually want moar options. They just want simple and functional.
No one wants to stay in a hotel that has no drywall hung. But check out the massive integrated T9 fiber optic cable and 100% tallow copper pipes between the studs! Cool but no one realllyyy cares about that. They prefer 4 walls. 🤷
Yes, and instead of focusing on the same circuit of shitcoin conferences, bitcoin meetups and orginizing nostr events with the same bitcoin crowd, this could go the other way by simply focusing on the other communities and actively bring in a more diverse range of people and perspectives.
The other side why nostr is degrading and people are leaving bcs most of the client devs stopped taking users feedbacks which is critical aspect of keeping and growing network effect. Without users this place is not gonna exist.
Without users it becomes a super impressive tech demo and nothing more.
Focus on the "Other stuff" and the communities around it. As a dev, focus on good UI/UX. If youre not a designer thats no excuse. Youre a human, so make the UX good at least. We dont need every feature crammed into every little hole on every app. We dont even need to nostr-fy everything (put it on a blockchain vibes).
