⚡️🚨🇩🇪 ALERT - Massive blackout in Berlin! Tens of thousands of people have been without electricity for a second day already
The cause is a fire at two high-voltage pylons. Police are openly calling it sabotage.
Berlin authorities and the grid operator say the damage is extremely serious. A temporary power supply scheme is in place, while the main cables will take longer than usual to replace. Full restoration of electricity for all customers is expected only by Thursday afternoon, January 8.
In the meantime, warming centers are being opened. Police and emergency services are going door to door to check on vulnerable groups — the elderly, hospitals, and social institutions.
A huge number of people remain without power and heating.
