Ever heard of lightning? Can you track my #zap ? 😎
Discussion
I can't. Anyone you recieve from can. Your friendly neighborhood fed and sleuth can.
99% of everyone else that uses Bitcoin/LN can be because it has no strong privacy by default AND is overwhelmingly used custodially.

The answer is no, and yes, I agree that we need more education in the sense of self-custody and #noKYC
Yes, I agree with you on that for sure
But the more friction introduced. the higher the barrier. meaning no one will ideally use them that way. Has to be simple and by default as much as possible. Has to just work that way out of the box.
Only bitcoin and monero are not scams. However, I am not convinced that Monero delivers what it promises efficiently, and there are some red flags.
If a person does not use good practices, even using monero, they can be exposed, there is no point in having a tool and not knowing how to use it.

Monero is anonymous by default, you don't need to make any additional setup for that
Your custodial wallet can. Maybe you don’t use a custodial wallet in which case you’re part of the 0.01% who can run a #lightning node. #Monero has good layer 1 #privacy and has plans to improve it. In general, I think it’s dumb to qualify other #crypto as shitcoins (although there isn’t a shortage of scams and bad projects) but calling Monero one is either disingenuous or ignorant.
In my opinion, just being pre-mined qualifies any other project as a scam. I do not believe that monero is a scam, on the contrary, there are good intentions, but I think that the objective was not achieved and you have to admit that monero has characteristics that make it centralized in the devs.
I’m not sure how Monero devs is more or less centralized than Bitcoin devs. I wouldn’t call all blockchains with a pre-mine a scam but it certainly reduces the decentralization and impact the store of value properties.
Are you impying Monero was pre-mined? Or just speaking generally about crypto?
Monero is FOSS. Anyone is free to leave, join, or make their own network fork. All users currently on the latest fork are voluntarily using it because they value the upgrades, devs, and community of users. If not, they would sell and dip out. No one could stop them from doing that. Aren't you guys about free markets?
Imagine the real world worked like that. Everyone was forced to be compatible with old tech like CDs and could never progress. If you and a few others want to use CDs that is fine, but no one is obligated to be compatible with you for eternity at their own expense.
