You can always tell when bitcoiners are getting bored because they start debating changing the unit names again.

Hot Take: the base unit is the minimum amount of bitcoin that's required to send 1 satoshi after fees.
It’s still satoshis but there’s no guarantee your dust will be spendable.
If you have to spend a dollar to spend a dollar then spending a dollar isn’t worth spending a dollar
Eh, it's a good conversation to have. The unit bias is important to consider.
It's good because we have to transition from SOV --> MOE
Counterpoint: No it isn’t. It’s tired blather that will never result in any change because there will never be consensus.
But there is consensus today over the existing rule set, so if consensus exists currently over the current rules - how can we say that there will never be consensus?
Good luck to anyone trying, but it’s not going to happen, and they will just end up salty. We’ve had all the debates for 15 years and we are still using the base unit and sats. Bits has been around forever and nobody knows what it means. Nothing else has caught on yet nor do I think it ever will.
Really it's just a UX problem. Sats are the standard for lightning interfaces
