If you hear anyone complaining about nostr being unusable bc their data usage is super high and it drains their battery
Simply ask them about their relay setup (screenshot if you canβt see it for yourself on their profile)
Most likely theyβre connected to a bunch of offline relays
Tell them to disconnect from those n only connect to relays with high uptime π«‘
This shouldnβt even be part of the UX for new users, only advanced. The fact that you have it explain it shows a real fault in how relays work.
I honestly donβt know the solution but Iβve spoken to many people that joined nostr then leave for a bit come back n their experience is horrible bc theyβre connected to relays that are no longer being ran.. kinda wish there was a way for when a relay has too much downtime or is simply offline to be disconnected from npubs
Ideally, the clients should automatically handle this scenario and disconnect from unresponsive relays.

Not all clients give us this information and I canβt remember the name of the tool that does. This also needs fixing to make it easier for people

How many relays should I be connected to? π
If the quality of the relays youβre connected to is great then you donβt need more than 10, i correctly have 7 & my experience is incredibly fast & no battery drainage π«‘ 
Good to know!! I have 10 with no issues except a lot of data usage... being fully honest idk why I have the ones I have, I was just messing around without full understanding ha
Most of them are aggregators so you donβt necessarily even need the 10 you could do 5-7
