Over the years I’ve developed a sort of immune response to overdesigned things. Instead of “this looks nice” I think - what are they trying to hide and sell to me at the same time? Because clearly there’s a lot of makeup on…

I acquired this notion long back that if there is even slightly over marketing, product probably have some defect.
I abhor over design. Touch screen on a stove? Connected to the internet? Touchscreen? Wtf for?
It’s one of the reasons I only buy Toyotas. Simple is, as simple does. I’d love it if they brought back the bare bones Troopy. I’d be all over that.

So the Deep State can monitor how much energy you're using to cook. You use too much, your allotment can be cut.. Same thing with the thermostat in your house, or a fridge that can connect to the internet. It's all about control.
