It's important to use Bitcoin companies that don't leak your info. It's also important to have a shower gun (among others), and to be on guard about anyone who might be snooping around the house uninvited no matter their reason. It's harder to intercept your actual requests for service than it is to make up some unsocilited BS. Multi-sig with family members or trusted friends for huge sums is also a solid strategy.
