I think this is just a phase in puberty to revolt against something.
Hopefully some will soon realize that their revolt is just fueled by stream of YouTube/insta feedback loops, they will realize that they can literally do anything they want & no one cares and they can actually build something good instead. Some will recover, some won't.

Often it's the specific constraints and restrictions that she is revolting against.
For example in my almost fully atheist country there was a Christian school and almost all the kids there were goth and satanists (fashion, music, etc).
Still in college, albeit compulsory.
That's likely why nothing about me appearance or ideology wise has changed, because I'm already fucking miserable as is.
