spam is a massive threat to nostr
1. if shitcoin spam can impact nostr this much, imagine what a real threat actor could do
2. pervasive spam invalidates trust from users
3. relay operators are not going to pay to host large scale spam
we need a large bounty or some other way of incentivizing spam mitigation.
I would like to hear more in this
NIP-13 was proposed to adress the spam problem. Relay operators could require a certain amount of PoW on notes in order to accept them.
I was thinking about attacking nostr the past few weeks, just to force us to deal with it. We're barely getting spammed now, it's so easy to flood relays right now
Some people have already been doing that, attacking nostr intentionally to try to force a spam fix, but I haven’t seen them recently.
I’ve been wondering about the same thing. As a non-dev, I don’t have the first idea how we could attack this.
