I suppose if you paywall your knowledge that works.

Yeah true, twitter always seemed like an empty shell to me, the value was brought there from other places, but it wasn’t created there. All people need is a place to bring their value/wisdom/knowledge to be seen by others and a way to search for it without interference.

Right. And now X is aiming to change that - to capture the value not only of the network effects but also the creators. It’s just going to be a stronger moat. Elon did the smart thing business-wise. Many before him understood where Twitter needed to go. But it makes for something entirely different than a free speech platform. Which makes it that much more important to have an alternative. But we no longer really need a place to dump information into a single aggregate system. Maybe it’s useful for the experience or curation but discovery can move to prompting. I’m sure a lot has already.

Yeah he captured the value of others like a corrupt government captures people stuck in a physical location.

He’s banking on people being to lazy or content to move from their prison.

What’s truly incredible about nostr is how data is organized. Raw data is chaos and the work of software is to organize it. Twitter has become a dumping ground for data and impossible to find the signal amongst the noise.

Nostr organizes data in a way that the signal can be found even when it scales to billions of people, this is an evolution and is far superior.

Some people dont think of X as prison. People who earn from it have been waiting for tools for a long time. He’s just capturing creators by rewarding them. It’s what YouTube did and many creators love YouTube - they earn a full time income on it.

Some creators also love algorithms because they are good at gaming them and rely on the vitality to get reach.

We have to think outside our bubbles sometime to look at how others view the world.

My son is a full time YouTuber and I don’t mean to fault the content creators or platforms per se, they are both significant improvements over what existed before. I merely mean to highlight the power individuals should have over their own content. If you’re being taken advantage of know you have the power to choose, the power isn’t with Twitter or YouTube, it’s with you.

If people realize their power and take ownership of it I think we will see a nostr revolution since nostr’s greatest strength is giving individuals their sovereignty.
