When you pay rent, you're paying property taxes.
The government isn't going around taking houses away for sport, at least not in America.
If there is eminent domain because your dumbass bought property in the way of a gas pipeline or something like that - they pay you for the probably shit house you bought for cheap so you can go buy another one.
I know more people who are getting fucked with rent hikes than people who can't pay their mortgages.
Fixing your costs with an opportunity for them to be lower is smart unless you don't mind getting whipped around & moving around the world to cheaper housing.
The nomadic lifestyle has its pros & cons but this is one in its favor.
