Cleared the last sats from my Citadel lightning node. Time to shut down this bad boy. #rip
What should I run next? Start9? Umbrel? I just want to run a personal nostr relay.

+ some personal server stuffs.
Umbrel has a super simple personal node app. I think it only functions as a sort of backup but it's almost a one click setup.
For lightning, I prefer mynode. Less features but more stability for me so far (running both nodes concurrently)
Start9 migh be too heavy requirements for my raspberry pi. I don't want to use it for lightning so Umbrel could work.
Not sacrificing any sats for umbrel or citadel anymore.
They are too unstable for sound money. But good software for a personal server.
Nothing will be stable on a Pi. Get a proper PC or NUC
I'm interested. I'm running citadel, but I am open to any other, more complete software that allow me to run also a relay and stuff like nextcloud
The solution seems to be run bitcoin on mynode or raspi blitz on one server. Then run Start9 on another.
Almost lots millions of sats on Citadel because the updates broke it. Had to manually downgrade (which isn't recommended) and got access so I could close all channels.
Fuck that seems scary. On ln, right?
Damn, rpi prices did not come down. I didn't wanna spend a fortune ๐
I got myself a Start9 still waiting for it ๐
I run Umbrel under Raspberry Pi with no issues. I would like to know though what is the difference/benefits with Start9?
Iโm thinking of picking up a start9 node also. Bunch of really good bitcoiner peeps. And their customer service is top notch #[5]
Yep, i hear good things too. At software level, I was wondering what makes it better than Umbrel. I will keep digging!
At present, I'm using a Raspberry Pi 4GB, but I'm unable to install all the applications I desire. Rather than purchasing another Raspberry Pi with 8GB, I'm interested in an operating system that ensures privacy, Pure OS with Intel management engine disable means more privacy less risk in my opinion.
So you believe Start9+Intel increases privacy vs. RaspberryPi+Umbrel. Interesting. I will do some search on this.
Report back Sandy. Iโd like to get your opinion on this
Sure, I will. What nostr:npub1grugcx3cwqsxq627fzm4ec39zwulxdtj7ysc7r6ulm02a60da60qadfu3u has mentioned regarding security is something that i have already read in Start9 website. Of course, their opinion is biased:

Hey nostr:npub1pzej3dt6ql5xzzxh4lg9eg2yttr25zsft4s4fje0gdrmm64mmwvswqshxc after some weeks of reviewing options I am seriously considering to switch to Start9.
Start9 architecture is built with privacy and security in mind, this is the first reason. After digging information out on the roadmap, team and focus, i believe this is the right step forward.
The second main reason that has convinced me is my own experience with Umbrel after some time: I came to the conclusion that is still a half-cooked OS, less secure and it forces the user to switch between command line and GUI.
My two cents.
Thanks for the update! Glad to hear your conclusion. Iโve also been leaning towards a start9. They had the CEO on #[5]โ this past week. Was a good interview. He mentioned a huge update coming soon. Iโm curious what that will look like.
Not two excited about my umbrel performance. It ate 2 Hdds and two 64g ssds in two years.... Attaching it to my zaps created some weird behaviors.... Think Ill Go Start9 next time.
YES
I just started running Umbrel Home and i like it a lot. Many apps to use.
I have a MyNode, which I liked as a starting point, but not as comprehensive.
Start9 is great
I've tried them all and I've ended up with Umbrel on an old Dell i7 from eBay. With a nvme drive on a pcie card it's under $200 equivalent in GBP. Running on Ubuntu I installed Umbrel directly on the nvme (can't boot from it directly).
I ran a Raspiblitz for about 2 years until a couple of weeks ago, but it was struggling to stay up reliably. Sad to let it go.
Start9. I do not run a nostr relay with it but it is a solid build.
Start9 is definitely the best choice. It is a real debian based OS optimized for bitcoin apps including good security, backup and a open market place.
I run several nodes on bare metal and VPS with it.
Start9 is in a different league compared to Umbrel / Citadel - they are nice for starting but not stable at all. More or less just a nice but fragile docker gui ...
Seems that way. Thanks for sharing.
