Cold card seems to e the gold standard imo. Use multisg with two or more devices for further security.

Ffs... I can't keep up 😩 Self custody has got to be simplified 🙏

Bitkey is pretty simplified. The tradeoff:

1. They can surveil you (but they can't steal from you)

2. If the business goes under, you will need to be able to follow some technical instructions to recover your funds to a new product.

Oh ffs man!!! Make self custody simple again 🙏🙏🙏 Seems like maybe it never was. I thought buy btc, send to cold storage, hodl. That was it. FML 😭

You can.

Just generate your own keys with entropy and use a seedsigner

Thanks Logen. I'll take this advice 🤝

No problem! Im working on little guides like this on my website BTCforPlebs.com

That sounds like EXACTLY the place I need to be 😂 Perpetual Pleb right here.

If you want, get an old android device. reset to defaults. do upgrades. install blue wallet. Then DELETE all wifi connections. Device should remain offline now.

Create a new wallet and Seed. Store seed securely offline. Export the xpub to another phone(bluewallet) or laptop (Sparrow wallet). Deposit sats to new addresses. Delete wallet (even default old phone again if you want). You can now anly deposit to address. To spend you would need to import seed to old phone again, or a hardware wallet..

There are a lot of options, this can make things more confusing, granted...

Hmm. Had a friend with the same complaint. Thought about this for a while.. The reality is, you need to do the work.. Having to spent quite some time to understand fundamentals of Bitcoin storage isn't a bad thing, the pain is worth the reward..

Was quite a dissapointment when trezor announced this "upgrade". Keeping up is quite the challenge, especially when it comes to securing smaller amounts of btc. For most medium size stacks, a well secured seed, with a passphrase stored in seperate location is sufficient.

Take the time. Lost stacks occur mainly from people rushing to be the MOST secure they can be.
