That’s a useful notification to have - failed zap. LN works, and there exist unhappy path failed payment cases, even in the case of the largest LSPs.
Can you confirm the following info:
Sending nostr app
Sending nostr wallet type
Receiving wallet type
In this case I’m sending from Nostur using my Alby wallet via NWC. Node said he’s receiving to Zeus zap locker. The payment successfully sends once he opens Zeus and accepts it. I agree it’s a useful notification, but it also discourages me from zapping someone when I’ve gotten several failed payment notifications in a row from them.

When someone zaps me, I get a push notification saying I received x amount of sats. I have to open the app and let it load a few seconds for the zap to be redeemed

Considering the wonkiness that is LN, this sounds like as good as possible of an experience, without Zeus being able to receive without opening an app.
Sounds like everything is working as intended for both sender, and receiver despite LN shortcomings.
I would challenge Zeus team to build a solution that can receive zaps without having to open the app each time ⚡️💪
In WoS, when you zap a zeuspay wallet, it displays this message. I wondered if other wallets could do the same. Would be useful info for the sender 
That would be really helpful. Is there a way the nostr client could know this? Or would that notification have to come from the wallet sending the payment?

When you use ZeusPay with their node in phone wallet, then incoming zaps go into the “zap locker” and don’t complete until you open Zeus and accept them.
