I don't know what this is, but I am totally enthralled by exploded and cross section views of mechanical devices. This is so beautiful.

back in the day when we did 3-point perspective on massive grids we had to create by hand using rulers and ellipse templates... I did a lot of airbrushing too, but always liked the look of tight technical drawings combined with the fluidness of watercolor.
CAD is great, but making shit with your hands in motion, tactile experiences in real 3d, is the generation of real knowledge.
