It ain’t the prettiest part of our homestead but this chicken run brings me so much joy.

It’s about 12-16 inches deep of weeds, leaves, prunings, biochar, and veggie scraps that the chickens eat and are entertained by all day long.

This area used to flood from neighboring properties upstream but now the run soaks it all up.

We get about 25 gallons of sifted compost from each 5 ft/sq or so
