Honestly there's many ways. Me personally I haven't updated my Core node. I would research who are the people behind Knots before jumping into it. I don't fully trust them because of their past history, but knots is a good option if you're a power user that's looking for extra tools. But if you're just going to run a node for yourself find an older copy of core. I mine directly to my node for my smaller miners. Also its newer features is maintained by fewer peeps so be at attention. But there is slowly more people working on it.
Also don't fall for the Ocean mining and Datum being superior to Stratum V2 if you're mining. Stratum V2 is open-source and Oceans backend isn't. So be wary of the conflict of interests for Luke Dashjr.
