After using #Nostr for several weeks, one thing that has taken me by surprise is how there are very liberal and very conservative people on here, and yet they both share a sense of community and don't spend all day posting content against each other. Despite differences in political persuasion, they find common ground on here.

Now that I've seen this, I better understand how dangerous centralized control of social media is -- where algorithms continuously drive inflammatory content to users to keep them addicted to the platform. I find it ironic that a censorship-resistant platform is largely devoid of much of the inflammatory content that's present on censorable social media. One may have thought the opposite would be the case.

Happy to have you here. 🫂🤙

This is the future 💜

It's a promising future!

It's so nice to see that almost after a year, new users has still the same impression I had when I first arrive on #Nostr. 🤙🫂

It's also great to hear that this environment has persisted for so long on here. Very promising!

That’s exactly what I was thinking. Nice to see ya here buddy 🫂

Same here! 🫂

Legend! 💪🏽

Yes. This place isn't designed to make people fight.

It’s those gm notes that unite us 😂

This is what it’s all about 🫂 #nostrnice

We have civil discourse here

Not me. I’m vaccinated.

Never heard of her

She died. Sad story.

This is the way.

There are more views than just liberal or conservative.

I dont think we find common ground all the time, but we live with the fact that the other cannot be censored no matter what they say.

That's why im here. I want to read their views no matter how outrageous or against my own they may be.

If lock ourselves into mainstream echo chambers, from the left or the right, we are lying to ourselves.

Hate is the algorithm in centralized social networks

I think that’s because the propaganda agencies, NPCs and censorship advocates haven’t arrived here in full force yet.

When Twatter starts running their own nostr relay and cache, it shall be more customary here.

Those labels don't apply in a freedom based environment.

People are actually just people, not labels. Nostr only does is revealing that not-so-evident truth.

I think it’s because everyone here (whether right or left) understands the importance of freedom of expression. We all share that fundamental idea and I think it just generates a bond of sorts.

You are spot on. It’s so much more cordial here. People here are also early adopters, more open minded to new ideas and respectful of others ideas.

There are many more examples like this - my personal favorite is how there are a lot of no-coiners and bitcoiners here and they get along great.

But yes, what you spotted is what I had realized too. Since there is nobody trying to keep you addicted, it actually becomes your own choice to come here and stay and interact with the people - which is MUCH different and has a whole different vibe to it.

It ain't for everyone, that's for sure, but I love those that come here ^^

The fundamental difference is that on Nostr everything we write is indelible, unchangeable and unstoppable, this creates an enormous sense of responsibility.

Here you cannot cheat and you cannot clear your conscience.

Haven't seen many liberals here honestly, if anything I've seen more non-coiners and Bitcoiners as the "divide". I'm glad there is still a sense of community here.

GFY. Zapped you ;)

Liberals and conservatives just added each other to their blocklists. I read both and I can tell you that Nostr has not fixed or helped anything here. For many people It's still an echo chamber.

Give it time

Exactly what I’ve been loving about the community here; humans being actual humans - no algos driving sentiment to force reactions and interactions for “clout”.

It’s really refreshing.

Centralization is often the root cause of the very problems that it wants to eliminate.
