Many who are self-taught far excel the doctors, masters, and bachelors of the most renowned universities.

I learned this the hard way, after getting a PhD.

As someone with multiple university degrees I can only agree. It is not bad to have a solid foundation, but as Goethe says: "All theory is gray, my friend. But forever green is the tree of life."

Love that quote

I've seen both: self-taught that put the difficult work in and excel but also self-taught that miss even the basics that are taught early on in classes.

I think that the main discrimination is how much work ppl put in.

The quote is true, but "many" still means the minority in this case.

Yes, I agree there are bs courses, but good courses at renowned universities are hard to beat.

I never let my #schooling interfere with my #education.

This is something I realised as well while learning economics. Instead of being pushed in a certain direction, I roam around the internet learning things I'm curious about or want to know... Instead of learning the things others want me to learn such as what is seen in schools.

I've got no degree. No diploma or anything, but I understand every aspects of the economy. The knowledge is what matters, not the piece if paper.
